Make Do

Thrifting for vintage is fun - you can find amazing, unique pieces you can't get anywhere else. A lot of people have a problem with sizing though - they won't take the time to thrift because "what is the likelihood of finding something that is amazing and just my size?" ( I hear this ALL the time). Well, you know what...you're probably right, you may not find tons of things exactly your size...but you know what I say to that...MAKE DO! Paper bag your skirts and trousers, cuff those pants, roll up those sleeves, belt, tie, clip, snap, sew! I mean, that's what makes styling fun anyway!

Here are a few examples of me making it do with items that weren't quite my size:

It truly is amazing what you can do. BTW - slouchy is in, so look for those sweaters one size too big!

Happy Wednesday, it's almost Halloween!!! :o) Can't wait to share pictures of our party!

Ashley

1 Dress, 100 Days - For Orphans

I'm sure many of you have heard of the Uniform Project, where Sheena wore 1 dress for 365 days to raise money for underprivileged children in India -- she got tons of support and ended up raising nearly 100k for her cause. This is her story:

Well this great idea is being replicated all over the world, and this beautiful young woman, Elaini, from my hometown of Clackamas, Oregon, was inspired by Sheena. She is wearing one LBD for 100 days, to raise money for Orphans in India. I think it is brilliant to use fashion, something that catches the attention of so many, to give back. Her story has inspired me, so I would like to share it with you, here are a few of my favorite looks Elaini has put together:

Listed at LBVie

I've just recently listed some adorable and rare vintage finds at LBVie :)

The first is a Handmade By Eleanor 1960s pale pink and metallic sheath dress in absolutely excellent vintage condition (looks unworn). I imagine this dress being worn to an elegant summer wedding, or an evening out on the town:

Vintage 1960s Sheath Dress $46 at LBVie

Speaking of weddings, what a beautiful find is this lace vintage maxi dress!

Vintage Lace Maxi $58 at LBVie

I also recently listed some really adorable flats -- a great stunning silver disco pair, and a lovely navy leather studded pair :)

Both are $16 at LBVie :)

I love vintage clothing, not only for its quality, history and style, but for its amazing uniqueness and magical wearability. The brilliance behind vintage is the rarity; you become an uber cool fashionista when you infiltrate vintage into your wardrobe! I usually try to mix and match a little vintage in everything I wear - it makes for a unique, stylish look :)

Make a Statement

If you're anything like me, you have a multiple closets and dressers FULL of clothing...yet still, on those random, bad weather, wake-up late types of days, you feel like you have absolutely NOTHING to wear. Those days are by far the worst days imaginable. To me, there is nothing worse, than being late in the morning, already feeling like you look like crap, and then being unable to put together an outfit that takes the tired out of your eyes. You end up storming out of the house 15 minutes late, and bitter because for the whole day you will hate your outfit. This same scenario happened to me, one day, a couple months ago, and I vouched to fix something in my wardrobe so this wouldn't happen again. After many trials and tribulations, I have come up with two life saving styling tips!

Tip Number 1: Find the perfect STATEMENT necklace!

A cool statement necklace has helped me leave the house on time since my little fiasco a couple months ago. It is so easy and stylish! I love to wear mine over almost anything, but especially over a crisp white blouse and jeans:

It's amazing how much glam a simple necklace adds! I got this one at Forever 21 for $7.80:

A statement necklace uses little thought for a lot of style, which makes it my number one style tip. Here are a few others I love:

LBVie $18.00

Anthropology, $58

Forever 21, $5.80

Topshop, $60

You definitely don't have to go over the top with these, just have fun and play around. Next time you're in a jam, or think your outfit is too boring and simple, throw a great statement necklace on! I promise, it will increase your chic points instantly! :)

Life saving styling tip Number dos:

Let's save this one for another post :) :)
